His work is credited with boosting the popularity of the manga genre in the West, as well as inspiring a new generation of manga artists. Toriyama’s tale about Son Goku and his quest to gather all 7 Dragon Balls has a massive fan base around the world. Son Goku’s heroic journey is one of growth and learning that takes him from childhood to adulthood – an adventure which has spawned numerous spin-offs since the original series in the 1980s.
Moleskine pays tribute to the original epic adventure, in which Goku learns about friendship and overcoming obstacles. Each of the 4 notebooks in the collection features original artwork printed on white canvas covers along with themed graphics that continue on the endpapers inside. The paper band B-Side provides information about the various tools used in the search for the Dragon Balls, such as the Dragon Radar and the Hoi-Poi Capsule, while each notebook also includes themed stickers with iconic Dragon Ball graphics.

Dragon Ball (Japanese: ドラゴンボール, Hepburn: Doragon Bōru) is a Japanese anime television series produced by Toei Animation. It is an adaptation of the first 194 chapters of the manga of the same name created by Akira Toriyama, which were published in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1984 to 1995. The anime is composed of 153 episodes that were broadcast on Fuji TV from February 26, 1986, to April 19, 1989. It was broadcast in 81 countries worldwide. It is part of the Dragon Ball media franchise.
Dragon Ball follows the adventures of the protagonist Goku, a strong naive boy who, upon meeting Bulma, sets out to gather the seven wish-granting Dragon Balls. After becoming a student of martial arts master Master Roshi (also known as Kame Sennin), he and his fellow pupil Krillin enter a tournament that attracts the most powerful fighters in the world. He then sets out on his own and winds up facing and destroying the Red Ribbon Army single-handedly. When Krillin is later murdered after another tournament, Goku exacts revenge on his killer, Demon King Piccolo. Three years later, Goku, now a young adult, must fight King Piccolo’s offspring Piccolo Jr.. The remaining 325 chapters of the manga were adapted into the Dragon Ball Z anime.
